Travel Photography Competition – week 117

Danijel Jovanovic Photography - Sveti Stefan, Montenegro

Hello everyone and welcome once again to the 117th edition of our popular weekly Travel Photography Competition! This week we are looking at the photos posted on our Facebook page between 19th and 26th November.

We are publishing the results slightly later than usual due to heaps of end of term related work, hectic trip preparations, moving house and country havoc and some massive farewell parties which were enjoyed last and this week. Thanks for your patience and we hope you understand that life is sometimes too exciting to spend it on the internet. Nonetheless, we are back online with three stunning photos to kindle your wanderlust.

The first winner this week shows the gorgeous islet resort of Sveti Stefan in Montenegro, set only 6 km from Budva. The island and mainland stretch form a 5 star hotel resort which contains luxury 50 rooms and cottages. The fortified village, built in the 15th century to defend against the Turks, was transformed into an upmarket resort during the Tito regime. Even if you can’t afford to stay there, it certainly offers a stunning view!

And the last lovely image this week was taken early in the morning in Stadskanaal, Groningen, Netherlands. The town’s name literally means “city canal” and as you can guess, there is a huge canal (holding the same name) running through the centre of town. The town has nearly 20 thousand inhabitants and is one of the biggest hubs in the region.
