Travel Photography Competition – week 115
Hello everyone and welcome once again to the 115th edition of our popular weekly Travel Photography Competition! This week we are looking at the photos posted on our Facebook page between 5th and 11th November.
The first winning photo is a serene autumn shot taken in the Lake District, UK. “The Lakes”, as the district is commonly known, is a stunning mountainous region in North-West England and a popular holiday destination. It’s well-known not only thanks to its lakes, mountains and woods, but also for being beautifully described by the 19th century Lake Poets.
In second position this week, we’ve got a wonderfully moody picture taken in the LOFAR Area in Buinen, Netherlands. LOFAR is a radio astronomy observatory, which is using the largest radio telescope on Earth and is also a superb ground for exercising photography skills, as you can see.
In third position this week we have two fantastic photos! The first of them shows Victorian houses in Alamo Square, San Francisco, USA. Alamo Square is a residential neighbourhood whose stunning buildings, mostly untouched by urban renewal projects, have been immortalised by the popular American sitcom of the early 90’s, Full House.
This lovely image was sent by Ugo Cei from Pavia, Italy who is a traveller, IT specialist and landscape and fine art photographer. For more samples of his talent, visit his Facebook page Ugo Cei Photography and his website.
And the last photo in this week’s competition, which scored the same amount of votes as the one above, is another lovely autumn shot. It was taken from Mount Bohemia in Upper Peninsula, Michigan, USA. The mountain is a popular skiing destination located near Lac La Belle. Mount Bohemia operates two chairlifts and offers a stunning view, as you can see in the picture.
This beautiful picture was taken by Sanna Tolmunen, a reporter from Finland but based in Michigan. Check out her wonderful travel blog adventuresofafinn.com and her Facebook page Adventures of a Finn.
Thanks to everyone who participated in this week’s edition of the competition, either by sending or by voting for the pictures! We wish you a nice end of the weekend!
