Travel Photography Competition – week 113
Hello everyone and welcome once again to the 113th edition of our popular weekly Travel Photography Competition! This week we are looking at the photos posted on our Facebook page between 20th and 28th October.
Our winner this week was taken on the banks of Braies Lake, in the Trentino-Alto Adige region of Italy. The lake, also known as Pragser Wildsee in German, covers an area of about 31 hectares is 1.2 km long and is a popular tourist destination, due to the deep blue colour of its clear waters and the beautiful alpine setting.
This great photo was sent by Chiara Salvadori, a videomaker, author and photographer from Italy. If you like this picture, follow Chiara on Flickr or 500px. Congratulations and we can’t wait for more photos from this talented photographer!
In second place this week, an atmospheric shot of the Honeypot Shrine in the Goyt Valley, Derbyshire, UK. This miniature chapel was constructed in 1889 as a memorial to Dolores de Bergrin who died whilst only in her 40s. She was a Spanish aristocrat and governess to the children at Errwood Hall down in the Goyt valley on the outskirts of the famous spa town of Buxton in Derbyshire’s Peak District, which is set in the heart of Great Britain.
Our last winner this week is an interesting street shot of the bustling Catalan town of Tarragona. Tarragona is capital of the province of the same name and is most well known for the UNESCO listed remains of the Roman city of Tarraco. The 2nd century amphitheatre is perhaps the most striking monument but other treats include the remains of the Necropolis, Forum, Circus, Citadel and the imposing city walls.
This intriguing image was sent by Robert Kennedy, a first time winner here at HHH. Thanks a lot for getting involved and we can’t wait to see more of your work!
Thanks to everyone who participated in this week’s edition of the competition, either by sending or by voting for the pictures! We wish you a nice end of the weekend!
