Travel Photography Competition – week 110
Hello everyone and welcome to the 110th edition of our popular weekly Travel Photography Competition! This week we are looking at the photos posted on our Facebook page between 28th September and 4th October.
The winning photo this week was taken at the Kyaiktiyo Pagoda in Mon State, Myanmar. Popularly known as the Golden Rock, the Buddhist pilgrimage site is, according to legend, perched upon one of the Buddha’s hairs and is notable for its gravity-defying precarious position. The site is located in the small town of Kyaikhto, about 160km from Yangon and the price of entry is 6€.
This wonderful image was sent in by Nomadhead Gap Year Travel a free digital magazine that provides helpful information, practical advice and interesting stories for young people who want to take a Gap Year overseas. Check out the Nomadhead website for more information.
Our second winner this week depicts a rolling green landscape in Thailand. Thailand is the most visited country in South-East Asia and is famous for its dense jungles, pristine beaches and wonderful food. Top sites include the incomparable capital Bangkok, the UNESCO listed ancient ruins of Ayutthaya and the vibrant Chiang Mai in the north.
This wonderfully sweeping shot was sent in by Polap Thong who hails from Thailand.
And finally, our third winning photo which was taken at Refuge des Èvettes, in the French Alps. The mountain refuge is located close to the Italian border in Vanoise National Park, the oldest national park in France, which together with its Italian counterpart (Gran Paradiso National Park) covers an area of 1250 km².
This lovely image was sent by Hector Fröhlich Cortez, a Brazilian traveller, hitchhiker, blogger and amateur photographer.
