Travel Photography Competition – week 109
Hello everyone and welcome to the 109th edition of our popular weekly Travel Photography Competition! This week we are looking at the photos posted on our Facebook page between 21st and 28th September.
The first winning photo comes from Alberta, Canada which, with every competition, is continually growing on the list of places I’d love to visit. This beautiful photo shows Crowsnest Mountain (2,785 m) located near the Crowsnest Pass – a rail and road route through the Canadian Rockies.
This breathtaking image was sent by Michael Lenaour from Whitehorse, Canada. He is a talented and versatile photographer so make sure you visit his Flickr profile and his Facebook page One Shoe Photography
The second winning photo this week was taken in Vík, Iceland. Vík is a village located in the south of the country on the main rind road around Iceland and its black basalt sand beach was voted as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world by the US journal Islands Magazine in 1991. It is also home to many bird species, including my favourite, puffins!
This stunning photo was sent by Arturas Burming who is based in Budapest, Hungary.
And the last photo that received the highest amount of votes this week shows Old Swanage Pier, Dorset, England, UK. It’s a Victorian, over one hundred year old ruined pier situated on the eastern coast of the Isle of Purbeck. Next to this old times relic, you can see Swanage Pier that has remained functional until this day.
The town of Swanage is located at the eastern end of the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Thanks to everyone who participated in this week’s edition of the competition, either by sending or by voting for the pictures! We wish you a nice end of the weekend!
