Travel Photography Competition – week 106
Hello everyone and welcome to the 106th edition of our popular weekly Travel Photography Competition! This week we are looking at the photos posted on our Facebook page between 30th August and 5th September.
The first winning photo this week was taken in front of Cameron Lake which is located in Waterton Lakes National Park, Alberta, Canada. The park, which borders Glacier National Park in Montana, USA, consists of 505 km2 of rugged mountains, lakes and wilderness. It is home to many animal species including wolves, coyotes, cougars, grizzly bears and American black bears. To learn more visit the park’s website.
The secong winner in this week’s competition is this pretty photo showing St Colman’s Cathedral in Cobh, Ireland. This neo-Gothic cathedral, which is one of the tallest buildings in Ireland, was built in 1915 and it proudly overlooks Cork harbour.
The city of Cobh, which was known as Queensland between 1850 until the late 1920s, is a seaport town, where apart from the cathedral, one can visit the Titanic & Lusitania memorials and the town museum.
This great and colourful photo was sent by Wayne Wendel, an amateur photographer and a former detective sergeant at Houston Homicide Division.
And in third position we can see this gorgeous photo taken during Aurora season in Cochrane, Alberta, Canada. Cochrane, which is located only 30 km west from Calgary, is the second largest town in Alberta. The town is situated in the Bow River Valley and it’s a popular destination for enthusiasts of windsports, golfing, hiking and other adventure activities.
Thanks to everyone who participated in this week’s edition of the competition, either by sending or by voting for the pictures! We wish you nice end of the week!
