Travel Photography Competition – week 87
Take a look at the three stunning photos that won this week’s edition, but also don’t forget to vote in the yearly edition of our Competition and help us choose the most talented travel photographer of the year. The voting closes today and you have only 2h left to vote!
The first winner in this week’s competition was taken at sunset on the beach in The Hague, Netherlands. The Hague is the third largest city in the Netherlands (after Amsterdam and Rotterdam) and is the capital of the South Holland province. The city is the seat of the Dutch government, as well as the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court.
This lovely image was sent by Hector Fröhlich Cortez, a Brazilian traveller, hitchhiker, blogger and amateur photographer. If you want to see more samples of his photographic talent and, above all, read about his round the world adventures, check out his blog whatdoitravelfor.wordpress.com and his Facebook page What do I Travel for?
In second position this week, we’ve got this stunning shot of Sgùrr nan Gillean mountain and Loch na Creitheach, seen from Camasunary bay on the Isle of Skye, Scotland, UK. Isle of Skye is the largest island in the Inner Hebrides and it’s popular among visitors for its varied species of wildlife (especially birds) and stunning coastal walks and hikes.
This beautiful shot was sent by Damian Shields, based in Coatbridge, UK, who specialises in fine art landscape photography. He is a very talented photographer, so be sure to check out his website and his Facebook page.
And the last gorgeous photo we’d like to show you this week, was also taken in the Netherlands, on Terschelling island. Terschelling is one of the West Frisian Islands and it’s situated between Vlieland and Ameland islands. A large part of the island is a nature reserve and its main source of income is tourism. Many visitors are also drawn to the island for the annual Oerol theatre festival.
Thanks to everyone who participated in this week’s edition of the competition, either by sending or by voting for the pictures! We wish you a nice end of the weekend!
