Travel Photography Competition – week 85

François Renoncourt‎ - Skradinski buk, Krka National Park, Croatia

Hello everyone and welcome to the 85th edition of our popular weekly Travel Photography Competition! This week we are looking at the photos posted on our Facebook page between 1st and 7th April.

Take a look at these three stunning photos that won this week’s edition, but also don’t forget to vote in the yearly edition of our Competition and help us choose the most talented travel photographer of the year.

In first position this week we’ve got this stunning photo taken at sunset in Fira, Santorini Island, Greece. The island is located in the southern Aegean Sea, about 200 km southeast of Greece‘s mainland. The traditional architecture of Santorini is similar to other places in the Cyclades archipelago it belongs to, with low cubical houses, made of whitewashed stone with various volcanic ashes used as colours. It is also an extremely popular Greek destination especially among photographers and beach lovers.

The second winning photo this week was taken in a cave on Playa de Campiecho beach, near the village of Cadavedo in Valdés municipality of Asturias province, Spain. Asturias is a beautiful and wild northern Spanish region with the picturesque Picos the Europa mountain range, pristine beaches, caves that hold many of the world’s UNESCO listed palaeolithic art and some really interesting and the atypical Spanish cities of Oviedo, Gijon and Avilés. We definitely recommend visiting this region if you want to discover a completely different side of Spain.

And the last winner in this week’s selection shows Skradinski Buk, Krka National Park, Croatia. Skradinski Buk, which is the Park’s landmark, is a large natural pool of crystal clear water and high cascades and waterfalls. Krka NP is located along the middle course of the Krka River in central Dalmatia, near the city of Šibenik. It’s stunning and not as pricey as the UNESCO listed Plitvice National Park. To enter Krka you have to pay between 20-110kn (2,60-14,50€), depending on the season and the discount that you might be entitled to.
