Travel Photography Competition – week 84

Matt Trustrum‎ - Mal Pais, Costa Rica

Hello everyone and welcome to the 84th Easter edition of our popular weekly Travel Photography Competition! This week we are looking at the photos posted on our Facebook page between 25th and 31st March.

The first winner of this week’s competition is this lovely spring photo taken in Porto Germeno, Greece which is a beach resort area located in the Attica prefecture on the north-eastern coast of the Corinthian Gulf. Nearby stands the fortress of Aigosthena, dating back to the 3rd century BC, considered one of the best-preserved ancient castles in Greece.

In second position this week we’ve got another photo full of the spring mood that shows daffodils with the beautiful light of sunrise in the background. It was captured at Rydal Water, Lake District, England, UK. Rydal Water is a small lake located near the hamlet of Rydal, in the county of Cumbria. There are many walking paths in the surrounding hills and a walk around the lake itself takes in Dove Cottage and Rydal Mount, which were both homes to the English Romantic poet William Wordsworth.

And in last position we welcome our new contributor and his stunning picture of horses (or maybe one horse and one unicorn) on the beach in Malpais, Costa Rica. Malpais is a town in Puntarenas Province, which started as a fishing and cattle-farming village. In the recent years it has become popular among surfers and adventure travellers and it’s known for its while sand beaches and jungle-covered hills full of diverse animal species. Even Forbes Magazine voted the beaches of Malpais and neighbouring Santa Teresa as “One of the ten most beautiful in the world.”
