Travel Photography Competition – week 75
The first winning photo was taken in Thon-Samson, a village in the Andenne municipality of the Walloon Namur province in Belgium. Set on the Samson River, it’s considered one of the most beautiful villages of Walloonia.
In second position we’ve got this week a beautiful picture taken on the Gueirúa Beach in Cudillero, Asturias, Spain. Cudillero is a small but picturesque seaside village, whose main income is based on tourism and fishing. By many, Asturias (alongside with Cantabria) is regarded as the most beautiful Spanish autonomous community and that’s not without reason. The most prominent attractions of the region are its capital city Oviedo (with its 13th century cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site), The Picos de Europa National park and beach resorts of Llanes, Cudillero and Luarca, which we were taken to by a very friendly Spanish couple who picked us up during our A Dedo Por La Peninsula Iberica hitchhiking trip in 2012.
And in third position we have this lovely image taken in Wadiba Sands, Oman. Wadiba Sands is a desert area in Oman that covers 12,500 square km. The area is inhabited by Bedouins who spend their summer months in Al Huyawah, an oasis near the border of the desert, on gathering dates. The Sands are also occupied by many interesting species of wildlife that have been a subject of interest by the Royal Geographical Society.
Thanks to everyone who participated in this week’s edition of the competition, either by sending or by voting for the pictures! We wish you a nice end of the weekend!
