Travel Photography Competition – week 42
Good evening and welcome to our Travel Photography Competition as we celebrate the 3 most popular photos published on our Facebook page between 22nd and 29st April. Water seems to be a common theme in our winning shots, very apt given the grey clouds hovering glumly over hitchhikershandbook‘s heads this week in Barcelona. So join us as we take our weekly walk and forget about the miserable rain.
Our first winner this week comes all the way from the coasts of Iceland and is simply a remarkable picture depicting a long forgotten boat slowly capsizing into the waters.
Our next winner this week was taken in South Mountain State Park, North Carolina in the United States and shows the tranquil park in full greenery. The park covers an area of 16,664 acres (67 km²) and includes part of the South Mountains, a branch of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Its most famous feature are the High Shoals Falls a 300 ft (100 m) waterfall.
And our last picture this week was taken in Porto Germeno, Greece and it’s a stunning view across the surrounding Mediterranean. Porto Germeno is a beach resort area located in the Attica prefecture on the north-eastern coast of the Corinthian Gulf. Nearby stands the fortress of Aigosthena, dating back to the 3rd century BC, considered one of the best-preserved ancient castles in Greece.
Thanks to everyone who participated in this week’s edition of the competition, either by sending or by voting for the pictures! We wish you nice end of the weekend!
