Travel Photography Competition – week 30
Hello everyone and welcome to the 30th edition of our weekly Travel Photography Competition, in which we look at the photos sent to our Facebook page between 16th and 23rd January. Time flies, it seems as if we started our little competition only yesterday! It is thanks to all of you, who send, vote and comment on the pictures that this little project has been so successful!
Make sure you check out the winners of our Travel Photography Competition of the Year 2012, in which 81 stunning photos competed for your votes.
We’ll start this week’s selection with this lovely shot that was taken in Jammu, India. It’s a region located in ‘Jammu & Kashmir’, the northernmost state of India, and a popular pilgrimage destination as it’s home to many important Hindu shrines.
This stunning shot was sent by My Photograhic Instinct | Jags.
The second winning photo this week was taken on a rainy day in Bruges, Belgium. This medieval UNESCO World Heritage city is the capital of the Belgian province of West Flanders. Since, like Amsterdam, it’s a canal-based city, it’s sometimes referred to as “The Venice of the North”. Most definitely it looks like an interesting place to visit!
It’s a tradition in our competition that every week we post the three photos which got the biggest amount of votes. However, this week we have four winners as the two following photos gathered the same amount of “likes”.
This lovely seaside photo was taken on Porthcurno beach in Cornwall, UK. It’s located about 3 miles (4.8 km) from “Land’s End”, the westernmost point of the English mainland. It’s enclosed by Logan Rock (as seen in the picture) and has been listed among the ten most beautiful bays in the world.
This beautiful shot was taken by Aimee/John Memories-Photography.
And the last photo in this week’s competition was taken at the Cairo Citadel, Egypt. The Saladin Citadel is a medieval fortification built in the 12th century on Mokattam hill, near the centre of Cairo, to protect it from the Crusaders.
Thanks to everyone who participated in this week’s edition of the competition, either by sending or by voting for the pictures! We wish you nice end of the weekend!
What are Travel Photography Contribution Weeks?
Each week we publish the three pictures which got the most “likes” on our Facebook page giving the photographers the credit they deserve.
