Travel Photography Competition – week 17

October was a month when lots of new photographers joint our Facebook page and sent plenty of breathtaking travel photos. Let us present the most popular pictures sent between 8th and 15th October.

The first winning photo, sent by Photographical Arts by Skeeter, was taken from the top of Mount Tahtalı (Tahtalı Dağı) in Turkey. The mountain is located near Kemer, a seaside resort on the Turkish Riviera near Antalya. Its proximity to the Mediterranean coast makes it visible to sailors from a distance. It’s the highest mountain in Olimpos-Beydağları-Milli Park (2366 metres). At the foot of the mountain passes the Lycian footpath leading between Fethiye and Antalya.

The second photo with the biggest number of likes was sent by Card-Photo.com.  This lovely photo was taken at Cap de Formentor, Majorka, Spain. This spectacular cliff is the northernmost point of  Majorca’s Formentor peninsula. Its highest point called Fumart is 384m above sea level. Locals call the cape ” the meeting point of the winds”. Very poetic and descriptive name, methinks.

And the last photo in this week’s selection was sent by Alfonso Maseda Varela, a Spanish photographer from  A Coruña. This stunning blue picture shows Temple of Debod, Madrid, Spain. This ancient Egyptian temple was originally built in 200 BC near Aswan, Egypt, very close to the first cataract of the Nile. The Egyptian state donated the temple to Spain in 1968 as a sign of gratitude for the help provided by Spain in saving the temples of Abu Simbel.

Thanks to everyone who participated in this week’s edition of the competition, either by sending or by voting for the pictures! We wish you nice end of the weekend!
