Travel Photography Competition – week 5
It’s time for our 5th Travel Photography Contributions competition. It’s been over a month since we first started posting YOUR travel shots; firstly to allow others to see your great work and promote it, and secondly to share beautiful photos from all around the globe and inspire you to pack your rucksack and start your own journey.
This week the competition was extremely high and all the entries were of exceptional quality. It’s such a shame that we can post only three of them! :-( For more great travel photos taken by different experienced photographers from all over the world, visit our Facebook page. We also encourage you to post your own pictures as well and show us the places you love!
This week’s selection starts with this great shot of the pier on Lake Michigan, South Haven, MI, US. It was sent by Ryan Cusentino.
The second picture this week was taken in Iceland and shows the unique show only the Northern Lights can provide. As the author of this image tells us, “The Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis are discharged particles from the Sun that pass through the magnetic shield of Earth and create light when they mix with atoms and molecules such as nitrogen and oxygen on entering into the Earth’s atmosphere. These particles travel 149 million km or 93 million miles through space towards planet Earth, being drawn towards the Earth’s magnetic north and south polar regions.”
And the last photo for today was taken in Porto, Portugal. We are going to be in Porto next week so I’m already very excited! This awesome shot was taken by Álvaro Roxo – Portfólio Fotográfico. He is a self-taught landscape photographer based in Lisbon. For more of his stunning work, visit his Facebook page!

What are Travel Photography Contribution Weeks?
Each week we publish the three pictures which got the most “likes” on our Facebook page giving the photographers the credit they deserve. The competition has a 3-4 week delay so that the pictures sent later in a week will have an equal chance to get the same amount of “likes” as the ones sent at the beginning.
If your pictures are among this week’s selection, feel free to link to our website and tell your friends about it.
If you would like to participate in the selections, post your best TRAVEL shots on our Facebook page with their location clearly indicated.
Keep sending your photos and travel safe!
